Fall into the Ground

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.John 12:24-24

For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Phil 3:18

Many professing Christians in the world today ignore the need to die to the self because they love their lives. They are only willing to sacrifice a portion of their lives and time to God and they keep the remaining portion for pursuing the self and its desires rather than obeying God's commandment to die.

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.1 Sam 15:22-23

Jesus

And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.Luke 9:43-44

Jesus performed a lot of miracles and did many mighty works to the amazement of His disciples and the people of His day. He also appeared to be righteous and upright to them so they didn't see any reason why it was necessary for Him to die.

They felt that He was perfect the way He was and probably felt that it was expedient for Him to remain on earth for many more years in order to continue extending the Kingdom of God on earth.

However, Jesus wasn't fooled. He knew He was righteous, He knew He loved His Father with all His heart. He knew that all the Power of God was at His disposal. He even knew He was God but He also knew that the only way He could save the world from its sins and return to the bosom of the Father was to die a shameful and humiliating death on the cross

Peter disagreed with Him. Lord no.Be it far from You.Lord you are righteous, You are Holy, You are my inspiration. God will never allow such a bad thing to happen to a good person like You. But Jesus rebuked Him thus: "Get thee behind me satan....You are not mindful of the things of God but those of men" (Matt 16:22-23)

We can only become what God wants us to become when we die. All our speaking in tongues, revival programs, donating to charity homes, mission work, being active in our local assembly, praying, fasting etc amounts to nothing if we do not die to self and sin.

The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.Matt 19:20-22
Do not be fooled Church. God needs more than your service, Tithes and offerings. He wants your life: All of it. Not just a portion of it. He is more interested in what he can do through you when you die than in what you can do for Him when you save your life.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.Rev 12:11

You must die to everything that  you are in order to become all that God wants you to be. Obey God today. Submit to His cross, die to self and be saved.

And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.Acts 21:11-14
