Church of Satan: Church of Scotland Considers Ordaining Homosexuals

The Church of Scotland is discussing ordaining gay people as ministers during its annual General Assembly. The conversation will extend through Friday reports Christianity Today.

In last year’s meeting, church leaders decided that the Church of Scotland would not support same-sex marriages, but it would permit gay men and woman to be ordained. The decision sparked some congregations to break off and form the anti-gay Free Church.
This week, most of the large Stornoway High congregation left the Church of Scotland in favor of the Free Church.
“Sadly our congregation could simply not identify with the general direction the Church of Scotland is headed in, and the sensible option was to leave,” said former session clerk Christopher Martin.
So far, eight former Church of Scotland ministers have converted to the Free Church.
“The Church of Scotland will say only one percent of congregations have left but its a drip, drip, drip effect. The Church is losing 20,000 people a year and there’s no sign of that trend being reversed; it will only accelerate,” said Free Church minister David Robertson.
In the coming days, the General Assembly will reassess the Church’s endorsement of homosexuality in the church. Reverend Jeremy Middleton will propose that the Church take the stance that “marriage between one man and one woman is the only right and proper context for sexual relations.” It is believed that the Church leaders will not approve of the stance.

System of Satan: Harvard Will Host 'Reenactment' of Satanic Mass

A Satanic Black Mass reenactment is scheduled to take place at the Queen’s Head Pub in Memorial Hall at Harvard University on May 12, with the Mass performed by The Satanic Temple, which is being hosted for the event by the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club.
A non-consecrated communion host will be used in the reenactment, according to Lucien Greaves, spokesman for The Satanic Temple.
“While Black Masses are supposed to utilize a consecrated host, ours is merely representative of a consecrated host,” Greaves told CNSNews.com.  “It is not consecrated. We neither believe in nor invoke the supernatural.”
“To us, the Black Mass is an amalgamation that developed through time based on witch-hunting fears and later adopted by some as a declaration of personal Independence against what they felt to be the stifling authority of the church,” said Greaves.

A professor at a public university in North Carolina forbade his students from thanking God in personal statements that will be delivered during their departmental graduation ceremony on Friday.
In an email obtained by Campus Reform, Assistant Professor Eli Hvastkovs, who teaches chemistry at East Carolina University (ECU), instructed his students to prepare a “family friendly” 35­ word personal statement that mentions future plans or “thanks someone.” The students, however, were explicitly forbidden from thanking God.

“I've had some submissions that needed to be edited. so [sic] here are some guidelines,” the email reads. “1. You can't thank God. I'm sorry about this – and I don't want to have to outline the reasons why.”

A religious freedom legal group is coming to the aid of a fifth grade student from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who says his First Amendment rights were recently violated when his teacher told him he could not read the Bible during a classroom free-reading period.

The Liberty Institute, a legal group dedicated to defending religious liberty in the U.S., recently sent a letter to Broward County Public Schools, located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., imploring the school district to revise its policies and offer an apology to Giovanni Rubeo, a fifth grade student at Park Lakes Elementary School who was allegedly told by his teacher that he couldn't read the Bible during a classroom free-read time.
Earlier in April, Rubeo's teacher, Swornia D. Thomas, reportedly told the student that he couldn't read his Bible during the classroom-designated 90 minute free read time. Rubeo's father had previously told his son that if a teacher asked him to put away his Bible, he should tell them "no" and call his father.

When Thomas asked Rubeo to put away his Bible, the student followed the advice of his father, refusing to stop reading the Holy Book. The teacher then demanded Rubeo "put [the Bible] on [her] desk," and when he refused, Thomas called Rubeo's father and left him a voicemail explaining the situation.

"Good morning Mr. Rubeo, Mrs. Thomas. Giovanni called you because I asked him to. I noticed that he has a book – a religious book – in the classroom. He's not permitted to read those books in my classroom. He said, if I told him to put it away you, you said not to do that. So, please give me a call, I need to have some understanding on direction to him about the book he's reading as opposed to the curriculum for public school. Mrs. S. Thomas. Thank you. Have a wonderful day. Bye-bye," Thomas said in the voicemail.
