Rejoicing in Shame

The devil has fooled many Christians to place their priority on things that do not matter: He fools many of us to treasure material things at the expense of spiritual things. He makes us to focus all of our attention on the present world and to forget that this world is only the temporal abode of our souls.

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.Acts 5:41

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.Psalm 119:71

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.1 Pet 4:16

The early Christians rejoiced that they suffered shame for Jesus sake. They were heavenly minded. They realized that this world was only the temporary abode of their souls and that the shame that they suffered for Christ was necessary to prepare their souls for greater glory.

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.Heb 11:24-26

But Christians today rejoice that they have financial 'breakthroughs'. They rejoice because they have acquired palatial homes and because they have paid their rents. They rejoice when they secure good jobs, buy cars etc.

Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.Phil 3:19

Though they might profess otherwise, they see this world as the only thing that exists and they are not willing to let go of even a portion of it  to serve God. They reject any form of suffering and shame for Christ's sake and they classify those who emphasize suffering as the devil's children who seek to divert their attention from the 'blessings'of God.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matt 6:21

If we have any attachment to the world, It shows that our allegiance is still with the devil. Our unwillingness to let go of the things of the world and suffer for God shows that we value the world more than the Kingdom.

As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. Gal 6:12
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Eze 33:31

God is more interested in what is in our hearts than in what we  profess.Even if we sing a thousand hallelujahs and pray 10 hours every day or give millions in tithes or decide to sleep in 5 gallons of anointing oil daily or speak in tongues for the rest of our earthly lives, if our hearts are not  focused on the things of the Kingdom, we are enemies of God.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God
.James 4:4
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.1 John 2:15-16

We can fool ourselves but we cant fool God. He knows what is in our hearts, where they are and what they want.

So stop trying to play smart with God with your pretenses. He can see the desires that rule in your heart. Set your minds on things above. Treasure eternal things.

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:But the word of the Lord endureth for ever....1 Pet 1:24-25

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed.1 Pet 5:1
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;Phil 1:29

The things of the world will pass away. The things of God will never pass away. Partake in the sufferings of Christ. It is the only ticket to partaking in His Glory.
