Come Out

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.Rev 18:4

We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies. The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God. Jer 51:9-10

The Bible tells us to depart from Babylon and flee to Zion but how can we depart from a place when we do not even realize that we are in the place? In order to obey God's command to depart from Babylon and flee to Zion, we must have a perfect understanding of what Babylon and Zion represent and how it applies to us. I would like us to examine the two historical sites in order to have a better understanding of what they both represent spiritually:

A Place:
Naturally speaking, we are said to be in the place that our bodies are located in e.g  A man sleeping in his bedroom is said to be inside his bedroom. A woman who is located in California is said to be in California.

In a similar way, spiritually speaking, we are located in the place that our souls/minds are located in e.g. A natural person's soul/mind is separated from God and is located on the earthly plane. An occultists soul/mind is also separated from God and is located beneath the earth and a Christian's soul is united with God and is located in the heavenly plane.(Eden)

With our new understanding of the spiritual meaning of a place, i would want us to explore the two historical places Zion and Babylon:

Zion
Zion is a name often used as a synonym for Jerusalem. In the Bible, the word first appears in 2 Samuel  5:7. It commonly referred to a specific mountain near Jerusalem (Mount Zion), on which stood a Jebusite fortress of the same name that was conquered by David and was named the City of David.

Etymology of the word Jerusalem
As many of us already know, Jerusalem means City of Peace, foundation of peace  or dwelling of peace’, The word peace connotes a state of  tranquility or the absence of war or other hostilities.

Biblically speaking, Peace means the state of being reconciled with God. Jesus came to broker peace between man and God and anyone who accepts Jesus in His life is attempting to make peace with God. Anyone who rejects Jesus in His life wants to remain at loggerheads with God.

Spiritually speaking, Zion is the state where we perceive, experience and accept God the way He really is. It is the mind state that comes about when we are born again of Christ's Spirit. It is the mindset that strives  to be conformed to the standards of God. It is the mindset that  prompts us to love a life of self denial in the midst of a hedonistic, satanic and materialistic generation. This mindset is a stronghold/fortress against the forces of hell

Babylon
Babylon is the place where the earth converged to build a united world order which shared a common language and values. It was also the place where the Jews where taken to captive by Nebuchadnezzar.

Spiritually speaking Babylon is the place that the  world and the spiritual Jews (God's people) are in captivity. It is the mindset where we perceive things the way the world /our natural minds perceive them. It is the mindset that prompts us to cater for the lusts of the self and the serpent and reject the will for God for our lives (the cross of Christ). It is the mindset that prompts us to live for now and not for eternity. It is the mindset that prompts us to live our lives contrary to God and His will. It is the mindset that strives to be conformed to the world.

Depart from Her and come into Zion
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. Gen 19:17

The call to come out of Babylon is a call to refuse to be conformed to the world's mindset and the lusts that it triggers. The call to come into Zion is a call to be reconciled with God. It is a call to be reconciled to God and to start seeing things the way God sees them . It is a call to embrace Christ's cross of self denial. It is a call to become heavenly minded. All those who embrace both calls will be saved. All those who reject them would be eternally condemned to remain in their fallen state.
