The Joke of the Century

-"So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking. Gen 19:14 (NKJV)

-That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that History has to teach.Aldous Huxley

-"He Who Does Not Remember History Is Condemned To Repeat It" - Georges Santayana

The greatest folly of mankind is that they do not learn from the mistakes of their forefathers. History has shown that we always love to make the same mistakes that they made during their lifetime and that is the reason why the spirit and attitude of the relatives of Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah is reflected in our society today:

When God wanted to judge Sodom for its sin, He prompted his angels to use Lot to warn his relatives but Lot's warnings seemed like a big joke to them because it defied reason how a  beautiful and prosperous city like Sodom could be destroyed by fire from an invisible God who they probably didnt even believe existed.

In the same way, people in our world today dismiss the warning sounded by the prophets of God as the joke of the century. They also disregard the counsel of His saints as superstitious nonsense and stone age beliefs which are irrelevant to the modern world.

God's ways and thoughts are higher than the ways and thoughts of men. His methods are always beyond the ordinary man's comprehension and that is why His words do not seem to make any sense to the carnal man until they take effect.

That is the reason why He always sends His prophets to relay His message of impending judgment shortly before He executes it  (using symbols, signs and words in order to break it down in a manner that they can comprehend).

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.Luke 17:28-29

As it was in the days of Lot, so also it is today. God is using His prophets to warn mankind not to conform to the evil order in the world that they live in and to come into His kingdom (Mount Zion: the state where we see and accept God the way He really is) and like Lot, all those who heed to the call would be saved. All those who reject the message like Lot's relatives would be utterly consumed by the iniquity in the city
