Is The Bible the Truth?

Several Christians are of the opinion that the Bible is the truth and because of this, they base their entire Christian experience on the Words in the Bible and try to their conform their lives (by their own efforts) to them.

The Bible is not the truth. It is simply the means by which the Truth (Jesus Christ) is revealed to mankind.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

Jesus is the substance of Truth. He is the subject which the Bible treats. He is the person that the pages in the Bible are trying to point us to:

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Gal 3:24

The Bible is merely a reflection, a representation or a sign of Christ the essence of truth and it is the only medium through which He reveals Himself to us in our sinful state (in the same way that a mirror is different from the object that it reveals)

The intention of the Bible is to reveal who Christ is to you and His necessity in your soul so that you can seek Him to be born in your heart and empower you to defeat the devil and sin.

A teacher of truth?

Many Christians are also of the view that Jesus Christ was merely someone who taught people the truth. If that was the case, it means that Jesus was on par with Moses, John the Baptist, Paul and Peter.  Jesus does not teach us the Truth. Jesus reveals Himself (The Truth) to us.

He is the subject that all the Prophets of God and the Bible treat. So when Jesus gives us Himself, He gives us the Truth.

When He reveals Himself, He reveals the Truth and when His Prophets preach the Gospel of truth, (the message that reveals the truth) they are simply pointing people to Him.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" John 5:46-47

In order to become mature Christians, we must move from being totally dependent on the Bible and the Prophet to being totally dependent on the Living Truth that the Bible and the Prophet reveal and when we depend and are controlled by the Truth that they reveal, we would automatically conform to the words of the Bible because we would become a living reflection of Jesus.

Read the Bible but never be content with it. Listen to and read sermons (the ones that confirm the words in the  Bible) but never be content with them. Go further and get to know the substance that the words that you read and listen to are trying to reveal to you.
